We chose the All the Emotions 101 course for both of our kids, the Ages 8–11 course for our 10-year-old daughter, and the Ages 4–7 course for our 5-year-old son. Overall, we are really impressed with the program.
For our 5-year-old: This one requires a parent to sit alongside them, which is honestly a good feature, not a flaw, as it has become a sweet bonding experience. Our son can articulate the concepts perfectly when we work through lessons together, and gives great examples that show he gets it in the moment. The interesting and relatable parenting puzzle is that the in-lesson understanding does not always translate seamlessly to real-life emotional situations yet.
But I have come to see that as a developmentally normal gap, not a failure of the curriculum. Emotional regulation is a skill that takes repetition and time. So we're planning to revisit this course with him every six months or so until those lessons really click in the heat of the moment.
Overall, this program is well designed, evidence-based, and genuinely different from anything else we've tried. It meets kids where they are developmentally and gives parents real tools to work with. Whether your child is an independent learner or needs you right beside them, there's a path forward here.
Highly recommend, and I would suggest thinking of it less as a one and done course and more as a resource you grow with over time as they mature and develop.
We loved the puppet! This was such a helpful way to help continue the conversation about feelings in our home.
I've been needing a better way to help my 5 year old start to understand his emotions and how to manage them. These short lessons kept his attention and interest. He now often announces his feelings even before being prompted and his favorite one is to tell us he's mad and then start using the breathing technique they taught.
Both of my littles loved these videos! They thought the puppet was so fun and asked to watch them over and over again!
